Wehrli says a turbo blanket can cut the radiant heat coming off the exhaust housing by up to 80%. Keeping that heat inside the housing lowers underhood temperatures and holds exhaust gas speed up at the turbine, for better efficiency and quicker spool.
This blanket is shaped to fit snugly around the factory VGT exhaust housing on 2004.5-2016 Duramax trucks, and it also fits stock-style drop-in replacement turbos.
Inside, ceramic insulation rated for more than 2,500°F of direct heat sits behind a wire mesh layer that resists wear from engine vibration, and a tough high-temperature shell with stainless rivets covers the raw housing. Wehrli makes them by hand in the USA.
LLY, LBZ, LMM and LML owners on a stock or drop-in VGT turbo.
