HUBB 8501 reusable oil filter

Instead of a paper element, the HUBB is built from surgical stainless steel mesh in an aircraft-grade aluminum body, with Viton seals on the threaded parts. You take it apart, clean it, and put it back on.

HUBB uses a filter-inside-a-filter layout. Oil enters through two large kidney-shaped ports in the base and flows around the outside of the main element. When pressure rises under load, a valve opens to a second inner element that keeps filtering instead of going into bypass. A second valve opens only under extreme pressure so the engine is never starved, then closes again.

HUBB rates it at 99% efficiency at 25 microns, catching particles as small as 5 microns, with up to five times the flow of a standard filter. It is fully recyclable, so there are no used filters to throw out.
