Big power, lift kits and larger tires load GM HD steering beyond what the factory planned for, leading to loose steering, toe-in under load in 4WD and broken tie rods. BD's kit replaces the linkage with stronger parts.
BD rates its forged I-beam centerlink at 30% stronger than the factory part. Its tie rods are 1.5 times as thick as stock and use bigger inner ball joints; BD's testing showed they take more than twice the force of stock rods. Sintered bearings in the ball joints help them carry load and last longer, and every ball joint plus the pitman and idler arms takes grease.
The kit keeps factory steering geometry, so it avoids bump steer and any stock replacement part still fits. Longer through-bolt sway bar end links clear the bigger tie rods and leveling kits.
Owners of Duramax HD trucks that tow, are lifted or run bigger tires and power.
