The design of the factory exhaust manifold on the Duramax engine includes a pinch on the side of the manifold to allow clearance of the steering shaft, which is not required on the pickup applications and resaults in a serious decrease in exhauts flow by 80% compared to the Passenger Side Manifold.

To correct this enginerring problem BD Diesel designed their exhaust manifold to increase exhaust air flow, horsepower and reduces EGT's by creating a balanced exhaust manifold that maintains internal bore size and drive pressure within the combustion chambers. A direct bolt on replacement, manufactured from high silicon ductile iron for improved strength.
